With August wrapping up the end of summer, that can only mean one thing: fall is coming.
Between rushing through morning traffic to make a 9am class to fitting in leg day at the gym
after a hefty day at work, the last quarter of the year can seem overwhelming. By creating a
wellness sanctuary at home, we remind ourselves to put us first in the midst of the chaos. Here
are some tips on how you can do just that in your own space:
Keep It Quiet
The key component to a quiet space is being able to escape your thoughts in a peaceful
environment. This could look like your home office, your sunroom, or even a closet. Don’t live
alone? Try to plan your wellness sessions in the morning before everyone’s day starts or right
before bed once everyone is resting
Make It Comfy
If you’re like me, setting the scene is crucial for a safe wellness space - bring in reinforcements!
Pillows can be used to sit on for comfort. Oil diffusers can be used for mental clarity or stress
release. A small speaker can be used as well to play music for clarity or guided
meditations/prayer. Whatever you deem essential to your routine, bring it in!
Make It Official
Just as we make room for our plants to thrive, we should make room for our wellness space to
thrive too - treat your space as if it were permanent. By making it a part of your routine, you
build good habits of making time for yourself. Keep a small table or basket with all of the things
your wellness space needs to avoid interruptions during your sessions.
As the seasons transition into this new quarter, know that you are transitioning as well. Home is
where the heart lives, and you should treat it as such by prioritizing your needs while you’re
there. Your wellness sanctuary will look different than others, but the purpose will remain the
same: keeping calm in the midst of the chaos.
