It emerged from the need for a space where individuals could engage in "girl talk," understanding the unique challenges and triumphs that come with being us. Zemi became our canvas to paint images that resonated with shades of black and brown, finally portraying a spectrum of beauty that looked like us.

"Zemi" holds a unique significance. In our pursuit of simplicity and beauty, we explored various languages to find a word that captures the essence of our diverse background. As black women with Caribbean roots, we found unity in the word "Zemi," originally referring to a deity or ancestral spirit in Caribbean sculptures. Though our interpretation differs, this connection to spirituality reflects our individuality and our collective vision for Zemi.
